| Plot |
| Elwood (Joaquin Phoenix) is an amoral Army supply clerk with a gift for manipulation - a habitual liar who panders to his comically clueless commanding officer, Berman (Ed Harris) in the mornings and sleeps with his wife in the afternoon. He has been happily running a lucrative black market in anything he can get his hands on for years. However, when he comes across two trucks full of weaponry and graduates to arms dealing for black market heroin, he suddenly finds himself way out of his depth. When a new sergeant, Robert Lee (Scott Glenn) arrives on the base intent on cleaning it up, Elwood thinks it’s nothing he can’t handle. And once he sets his sights on the Sergeant’s rebellious daughter (Anna Paquin) a battle of wills ensues. It may look like peace, but this is war! |
